Like most Mumford & Sons fans, I was worried when I heard that they were going to change their sound. I went into it trying not to be too against change, and had a good listen to the album. While I prefer the sound that Sigh No More and Babel have, I still love this too. My favourite song has to be Hot Gates. Cried like a baby the first time I heard it!

Great fan of the guys but this radically different direction is a mistake I hope they realise. Yes it’s more mainstream but that wasn’t why they became a success. It’s a bit dull and eminently forgettable. It might grow on me but I don’t have the patience for that day to arrive. Sorry.
  • They've done it again!!!

Mumford and Sons have taken a different path in this album which will lead them straight to the top of the charts! I just know it!
  • Its a grower

Just give it a chance, yes they have moved on, but they are still top songs
  • This is not POP!

How many reviews Iv read claiming the albums full of pop songs, couldn't be further from the truth. This album is an example of accomplished and confident song writing and composition. Personally, I love the new sound and can't wait to see where they take it next. They've lost nothing by plugging in. Fantastic album, half of which went straight on my driving playlist within a day!
  • It's still Mumford & Sons

Different from their first two albums but still a brilliant effort, and can be played on repeat for a good long while. Just Smoke and Believe are my personal favourites. The reason for 4 stars (instead of 5) is that I do miss the fast paced banjo/mandolin playing and that Mumford seems to lack the same passion in his vocals he displayed before, both of which lent such a unique sound to Mumford & Sons - but that's just my opinion. Overall, a very good album and well worth the buy!

A fantastic album. Loved it from the first listen. A different route from their first iconic album.

  • Different

I wasn't sure about the album at first, I was a bit gutted that they'd lost the banjos... But I really love it now, definitely grows on you 😃

A bit of a shock, and admittedly a bit of a dissapointment at first. Up untill now everything they have done has had me hooked instantly, but not this . However i kept coming back for another listen and finally its got me big time. now, i love it ,different , yes, but whats wrong with trying new things?. All i can say to any dissapointed fans is give a few tries. you may change your mind.
