Fantastic new album
By Rg frog
I have liked this band for ages, the sound of madness was a fantastic album, this new one is amazing keep them coming.
Best album by far, own all of their albums and didn’t think Sound Of Madness could be outshone but this album beats it hands down, just keeps getting better, fantastic.
After their weakest album TTS, I was slightly nervous about this album. However, the release of Devil and then Huma Radio gave me great hope. When the album was released I was blown away, partly because I think I still had sceptisicm. Basically this retains a lot of the electronics from TTS but couples with the awesome vocals and guitar we've come to expect from Shinedown. Standout tracks being the two first releases, Pyro, Brilliant and my favourite song of theirs yet; Black Soul. Weaker songs include the title track and Kill Your Conscience.
Shinedown - ATTENTION ATTENTION (2018)
As Shinedown, now nearing twenty years together, look back on their seventeen-year career, there’s a strong sense of reflection on the trials and tribulations the band and, most notably, singer Brent Smith, have gone through that bleeds through across their sixth album. Conceived as a result of Smith spiralling into a depressive state during the tour of their previous album “Threat to Survival”, “ATTENTION ATTENTION” marks a creative high for the band.
A concept album based around the journey of the protagonist starting depressed and negative and ending up in a more positive frame of mind, the album starts heavy and cynical with lead single “DEVIL” and the title track, deftly tapping into your own common thoughts of lack of self worth and cynical eye to the world. From there, acknowledgment of your demons in “MONSTERS” around the halfway point marks the turning point where the band start to progress to a more positive frame of mind and is followed by the creatively rush “DARKSIDE”. The two-song punch of “GET UP” and “special” provide the ballads that Shinedown are always good for, before closing out with anthems “THE HUMAN RADIO” and “BRILLIANT”, a rousing end that can’t help but inspire the listener.
That’s not to say the album isn’t without flaws, as there are a couple of instances with songs that, while aren’t bad, aren’t creatively engaging compared to the rest of the album. “KILL YOUR CONSCIENCE”, “EVOLVE” and “CREATURES” could all easily be mistakenly thought to come from previous Shinedown albums, and while there’s nothing inherently wrong with these songs, they can’t help but feel like filler to pad out the length, sandwiched between more rich songs that perfectly reflect the album’s concept.
Overall, “ATTENTION ATTENTION” is a signal to the world that after years of being dismissed as just another radio friendly heavy rock band, Shinedown have a voice that deserves to be heard and a creativity that inspires. Their sixth album heralds a new sound mixing synths and more pop sounds with heavy rock in a concept that encourages listening from start to finish and, when finished, distils in you the desire to be creative yourself and album listens through the album again.

They have absolutely outdone themselves yet again, this album is just perfection, most definitely their best work yet.
I love the band but here they were trying to be too clever. It feels over produced and a long way from the stripped down sound of their early stuff. Hopefully they will work through this and get back to form with the next one
Glad they’re back
Welcome back boys. Superb album again.
By rock music is much better pop!
Some good tracks and bad ones as well but a improvement on the last album which was awful !! 🎸
I Absolutely love shinedown BUT....
I really have love this band but this is probably by far the most disappointing album they have done. I accept that they are probably trying to do something different and I respect them a lot for that. But the whole album for me lacked that typical shinedown feel. I just couldn’t find 1 song on the entire 14 track album wich I liked at all and that’s saying something as that is rather large. This just probably wasn’t the album for me. I look forward to the next though.

I love Shinedown so obviously I am biased.
I have every Shinedown album that they have released & this one is just as good as the rest. I have listened to it now about 4 or 5 times & it is awesome, I liked Devil & Human Radio when they came out as singles but they just get better & better the more you listen to them.
I have just been listening to my i pod on shuffle and one of the new songs came on & I had to check to see which album it was from it was just so typical Shinedown.
Best band in the World? Absolutely I can't wait to see them again.
